Message 12: The World Is Not Your Home — Holy Spirit Message
How these messages came to be
Beginning in 2016, I began receiving short phrases and inner promptings from the Divine Presence within, whom I know as the Voice of the Holy Spirit. These messages would gently repeat in my mind until I wrote them down, often arriving at unexpected moments throughout the day. Over time, I realized each message contained far more depth than first appeared, unfolding into complete teachings once written. I began collecting and numbering them, trusting they would be shared when the time was right.
Message 12 Overview
In this twelfth Holy Spirit message, we are reminded that the world of fear, suffering, and illusion is not our true home, but a dream born of forgetting our divine Source. Through forgiveness and willingness to see differently, the Holy Spirit gently guides the mind away from identification with illusion and back into remembrance of peace, unity, and eternal Love beyond all appearances.
MESSAGE 12: THE WORLD IS NOT YOUR HOME
THIS WORLD SEEMS TO BETRAY YOU.
It malfunctions. It cries out in pain and falters in its atrocities.
It collapses under the weight of its illusions and blames you for them. And yet, I tell you with the deepest love: do not rage against yourself in guilt over what your eyes perceive.
Neither should you blame Me, your Source, for the suffering that seems to surround you.
For it is not of Me. And, it is not of you, the holy Child of God.
What you see is not your reality—it is your projection. The world you see is not True Reality, but a veil drawn over Heaven. It was made, not by Love, but by fear, to hide what is changeless and true. You came here not as punishment, nor by force, but in an attempt to forget who you are, and to forget Me.
You chose to wander, not because you are evil, but because you wanted to know yourself more deeply, and to do so, you had to forget Who You Are in Truth.
But in the process of forgetting, you then became afraid of the very Love that created you.
And so, the ego, born of this forgetting as a substitute for My Love, offered you a solution: a world made to distract you, to consume your attention with images of lack, conflict, beauty that fades, and sorrow that stays.
This world is not your enemy, but it is also not your savior. It is the stronghold of the ego, and it is designed to fail—not because you have failed, but because illusions must fail. They are not built to last.
“The world was made as an attack on God. It symbolizes fear. And what is fear except love’s absence? Thus the world was meant to be a place where God could enter not, and where His Son could be apart from Him. Here was perception born, for knowledge could not cause such insane thoughts. But eyes deceive, and ears hear falsely. Now mistakes become quite possible, for certainty has gone.” (ACIM W-pII.3.2:1-7)
You came here to hide from Love.
But hiding from the truth will never heal what must be faced and forgiven. And so, you have suffered.
Not because God punishes, but because when you separate from Love, you experience the absence of your Self. That absence feels like pain, like grief, like longing. But I tell you truly—this pain need not be!
You cannot ever truly lose what God created eternal. You can only fall asleep and dream you are lost.
Even in this dream, I remain with you. I whisper always: Come home. Not to a place, but to a state of being. A remembrance. A return to the stillness that rests beneath all chaos. My peace is not far. It is not delayed.
It is here.
Now.
Awaiting your willingness to lay down arms, your defenses – against others, against your One Self – against your Unity with All That Is.
Forgive the world. Forgive yourself for visiting it. You are not guilty. You are only confused. Let your confusion be gently undone by Love, not reinforced by judgment.
Do not curse the dream. It has brought you to the point of awakening.
It has failed you, yes—but that failure is its greatest gift. And now, now that you have awakened to the Truth, you seek something more.
“The world you see must be denied, for sight of it is costing you a different kind of vision. You cannot see both worlds, for each of them involves a different kind of seeing, and depends on what you cherish. The sight of one is possible because you have denied the other. Both are not true, yet either one will seem as real to you as the amount to which you hold it dear. And yet their power is not the same, because their real attraction to you is unequal.” (ACIM T-13.VII.2:1-5)
Come back. Come Home to Me blessed Child.
Not by death, but by awakening.
Not by leaving the body, but by leaving behind the mind of fear. The mind that attacks, resists, and separates.
The ego will tell you that the world must be fixed. But I tell you: you need not fix the illusion. You need only fix your mind.
You need only to remember that the illusion you see is not true.
You need only to forgive all things as they seem to be now, by sending All Creation nothing but your love and light, regardless of the form it may take.
Do not confuse this with passivity. Forgiveness is the most active force in the universe.
To forgive the world is to deny it the power to define you.
To forgive yourself is to open your mind to the miracle.
The miracle does not change the world—it changes your mind about the world.
And that, My beloved, is everything.
“Forgiveness is the key to happiness. I will awaken from the dream that I am mortal, fallible and full of sin, and know I am the perfect Son of God.” (ACIM W-121.13:6-7)
You do not need to understand or feel your own Perfection for you to forgive.
Begin simply by being willing. Be willing to see things differently.
Be willing to question the voice of despair. Be willing to feel peace where the world insists you should feel pain.
I am not asking you to abandon your life, but to look upon it with new eyes.
When you see suffering, do not join in its story. Look deeper. Look past the form to the content.
Every cry for help is a call for Love, and you are the Love that answers it.
You were made to bring light into the shadows, not by force, but by remembering that shadows are nothing before the light.
They disappear not by struggle, but by the light of your sacred, still, Presence.
“There is no world! This is the central thought the course attempts to teach. Not everyone is ready to accept it, and each one must go as far as he can let himself be led along the road to truth. He will return and go still farther, or perhaps step back a while and then return again.” (ACIM W-132.6:2-5)
Yes, this world was made to hide the truth—but truth cannot be hidden. It remains intact within you, untouched and waiting.
You are not of this world.
You are merely visiting, and you are free to leave its rules behind. When you choose peace instead of conflict, when you forgive instead of condemn, you are no longer a prisoner of the ego’s realm.
You are a bringer of light in a land of dreams.
So, forgive the world for what it is. Forgive yourself for ever thinking it could satisfy your holy longing. You have not sinned. You have simply wandered. And every step you took away from Me, I have walked with you.
Now walk with Me, not away from truth, but toward it.
Toward your One Self.
You are tired because you have tried to live apart from your One Self. Let that effort rest now.
There is nothing to prove.
There is only something to remember: You are the holy child of God, and nothing can change that.
Come home—not in death, but through My Eternal Life.
Come home now, through the path within your most holy Mind.
Come home to My Peace and remember that you never left Me and I have never left you.
