Workshop 7: Healing and True Sight Through A Course in Miracles
This workshop includes a concise teaching followed by a guided meditation to support lived practice through A Course in Miracles.
Overview
In this seventh workshop of a twelve-part A Course in Miracles series, the focus turns to true sight and the radical responsibility we hold for everything we perceive. This session explores the Course’s teaching that the world we see is a projection of the mind, and that healing occurs through forgiveness rather than attack or defense.
Drawing directly from A Course in Miracles, this workshop explains how perception is corrected by releasing guilt and choosing union instead of separation. Through forgiveness, the illusion begins to dissolve, true sight is restored, and the world shifts to reflect peace, healing, and shared holiness.

Part 1 - The Teaching: True Sight and the Responsibility of Perception
“We are responsible for everything we see.”
This is one of the most startling teachings in A Course in Miracles, and it can feel confronting at first. But the deeper we understand what it means, the more freeing it becomes.
The Course teaches that nothing outside of us is truly outside of us. The world we see is an image made by the mind — projected outward because of guilt stemming from the belief in separation from God. Unable to tolerate that guilt, the mind pushes it away, buries it, and sees it elsewhere.
So the world appears external, solid, and “happening to us” against our will.
But if the world is merely a projection of our thoughts… then the question naturally arises:
Where are we, exactly?
When I asked this sincerely within, the answer came clearly from the Holy Spirit:
“There is only one other place you could be — inside your own mind.”
That realization landed like thunder.
If we are walking around inside a collective dream — a shared projection — then we are not victims of what we see. We are participants in the choice to see it. And the solution becomes crystal clear:
If we want the world to change, we must change the mind that is seeing it.
This is why the Course places forgiveness at the center of healing.
Not forgiveness as a moral virtue, or an act of personal superiority — but forgiveness as a correction of perception:
We forgive the belief in separation.
We forgive the guilt that made the world.
We forgive the interpretation that assigns attack and threat to appearances.
And when perception is corrected, the experience that follows begins to shift — often in very concrete, practical ways.
Forgiveness Heals Relationships at the Root
Every painful relationship is revealing a wound in the mind that wants to be healed. The Course would say: nothing is happening “to” you — you are being shown what you still believe, so it can be released.
This doesn’t mean we deny human emotion or pretend we aren’t triggered.
It means we use the trigger as a doorway:
I am upset because I am seeing through the eyes of separation.
I can choose again - a different way of seeing.
I can forgive this interpretation and invite true sight.
When forgiveness becomes habitual, something stunning happens:
the mind grows lighter
coincidences increase
solutions appear without strain
the world becomes less hostile
the path opens with greater ease
Not because the ego “fixed the dream,” but because the mind stopped insisting the dream was true.
A Real-Life Forgiveness Lesson
I was once confronted by an angry customer at my workplace — a situation that could have easily spiraled into defense and attack. Yet, in the span of a holy instant, before I let my ego answer first, I merely recognized my ego rising inside my mind, and chose not to feed it.
I remained silent, patient and observed the customer’s anger, but did not respond with my own. This didn’t mean her behavior had no effect on me. I simply chose not to engage with my ego.
However, I was still upset over the incident even hours after the ordeal.
Though I spared the woman my ego-reaction, I clearly still had some inner work to do. My level of upset was evidence of this fact.
Then came the healing miracle later that night: upon relating the story to my young daughter, she asked me,
“Mama, what would A Course in Miracles have said to that angry woman today?”
And the Voice of the Holy Spirit answered through my mind immediately:
A Course in Miracles would have said to the woman,
“In truth you love me with all your might. You’ve only temporarily forgotten this.”
We then both broke into hysterical laughter at this, not because it wasn’t true, but because it was. And we imagined me saying this to her face during the heat of her tirade and wondered what type of response she would’ve had.
Suddenly the whole situation came into perspective for me, and all my anger dissipated. Because true sight doesn’t argue with appearances — it looks past them.
It recognizes that attack is always a call for love, and fear is always a cover for forgotten union.
And in that realization, my anger dissolved — not through effort, but through correction.
In truth, this woman loved me, but had mistaken me for a body - and the cause of all her problems - and through only seeing me as a body, she forgot we were One Love in perfect Union with each other and God.
And likewise, I had forgotten this about her.
In truth, there was nothing between us but illusions. And if we stepped off the stage of the physical world, we would instantly recognize one another beyond our bodily roles.
We would embrace in love, remembrance and gratitude for the roles we each played for each other to help awaken to One Love.
The Light of understanding had entered my mind, thus en-lightening me to this truth.
Light Is Understanding
The Course uses light as a symbolic word for spiritual understanding. So to be “enlightened” is not mystical performance — it is simply understanding the truth and living from it.
And what is the truth we are meant to understand?
Union.
Not as a concept we agree with, but as a way we see, respond, interpret, and extend.
When you see others as part of your One Self — not bodies, not enemies, not strangers — your mind begins to return to sanity. And as your mind is healed, the world you perceive reflects that healing.
At the end of the day, remember only this:
You are not the cause of anyone’s unhappiness. Neither are you responsible for making them happy. Your only job is to forgive yourself for seeing anyone as a body in need of anything to begin with.
This goes for yourself as well.
We are each complete unto our One Self. We are united, healed and whole in the Love of our Creator.
We need nothing else but to remember this.
Everything else following this thought will take care of itself. Then the real world that God created will be seen by us at last.
Seeing only our Union is true sight.
And from that shift in inner vision, a healed outer world emerges in front of our physical eyes.
As it states in A Course in Miracles:
“When the ego tempts you to sickness do not ask the Holy Spirit to heal the body, for this would merely be to accept the ego’s belief that the body is the proper aim of healing. Ask, rather, that the Holy Spirit teach you the right perception of the body, for perception alone can be distorted. Only perception can be sick, because only perception can be wrong.” (ACIM, T-8.IX.1:5-7)
Part 2 - Guided Meditation: Mountain Lake
This meditation is adapted from ACIM Workbook Lesson 50: I am sustained by the Love of God.
Okay, let’s begin.
You may close your eyes if you wish or watch this meditation (click here or the link below.) It is comprised of peaceful nature scenes from my farm and other quiet moments during my travels. These recordings are intentionally simple and grounding, created to support stillness, inner listening, and a gentle return to presence as the meditation is received.
Now, bring your attention to your breathing.
Notice the quiet rise and fall of your chest.
Take a deep breath in… hold it… and slowly let it out.
Again… deeply in… hold… and let it out.
One more time… in… hold… and release.
Very good.
Now notice a sense of privacy and comfort as you follow the sound of my voice.
With each word, your body grows more peaceful.
Your mind becomes more clear, calm, and quiet.
The Meadow and Hammock
Imagine you are lying in a comfortable hammock, gently swaying between two strong trees. You are in an open meadow surrounded by pine forest, forming a wide circle around you. The sun is warm, the breeze is soft, and the air smells fresh and sweet.
The fabric of the hammock supports you completely. You are safe. You are held.
Now allow the sunlight to soften your face… your neck… your shoulders… your arms… your chest… your stomach… your hips… your legs… and all the way down into your feet and toes.
You are warm. You are comfortable. You are at peace.
The Forest Path
You notice a narrow path of shorter grass leading into the pine forest. Mountains rise in the distance beyond the trees. You gently step out of the hammock and begin walking.
The path rises gradually up the mountain. The air smells clean. The forest is quiet. With each step, your mind becomes lighter.
And then the trees open.
The Mountain Lake
Before you lies a clear, calm mountain lake shining in the sun. The surface is still. A stone archway stands at the water’s edge, marking the end of the path. You can see the beach just beyond it.
This lake feels like yours — a guardian of your inner world. You recognize this place. You are at home here.
You decide to go through the stone archway now. You walk through with a sense of ease and wonder, your fingers gently brushing the stone as you pass by.
The moment you step through, you find yourself standing on a sandy beach, just at the waters edge. And you notice a soft mist begins to cover the lake, dimming the sunlight.
Do not be afraid.
This mist represents the defenses of the ego — the thoughts that block your awareness of the light within you. We will rise beyond them now, not by force, but by remembrance.
Rising Above the Mist
We would like to move through this mist and fog to reach the light that resides beyond it.
You begin to walk along the beach, through the clouds, and you notice a staircase of bright rainbow lights. Each step a different color of the rainbow. There are 7 of them. Each a different color that represents one of your inner chakras – the lights of energy that run vertically within your physical body that represent your spiritual body.
Each color holds a different vibration and different function within you. In order to reach the Light of your Creator within, we must travel through each one and heal it in order to travel deeper inward.
So now, let us clear and release all our blocks to knowing our light by traveling upward and inward through your rainbow light body, rising high above the mist and fog.
One…
Before you is a red light at the base of your spine. You step into it.
This is your root center — your foundation, your sense of safety and belonging.
Release now any memory of abandonment, neglect, or withheld love.
You have not been harmed. You are healed and whole, perfect and complete right now.
As you hear these words, you rise gently to the next center.
Two…
An orange light appears just below your navel.
This is your center of creativity and connection.
Let go of the belief that there is anything unlovable about you.
You cannot be rejected by those you are one with — and you are one with all life.
God has not rejected you.
You are healed and whole, perfect and complete right now.
You are lifted upward.
Three…
A yellow light shines at your solar plexus.
This is your center of personal power and peace.
Release all thoughts of helplessness.
This world is not your Home, and nothing here can diminish your true strength.
You have never lost your power — only forgotten it.
You are healed and whole, perfect and complete right now.
You rise again, continuing upward.
Four…
A green light glows at the center of your chest.
This is your heart chakra — the center of love.
You are created from pure love and cannot be anything less.
Let go of the need to seek love. You already are it.
You are healed and whole, perfect and complete right now.
You are lifted higher.
Five…
You move into a blue light shining at your throat.
This is your center of expression and divine communication.
You are never separate from God.
The creative power of the Divine flows through you always.
Embrace your freedom to express Who You Truly Are.
You are healed and whole, perfect and complete right now.
And you rise again, continuing upward.
Six…
An indigo-blue light appears at your brow.
This is your center of insight and inner vision - your third-eye chakra.
Let all confusion dissolve.
Your mind is clear, inspired, and guided by God.
You are created to see truly.
You are healed and whole, perfect and complete right now.
You are lifted upward once again.
Seven…
A violet light radiates at the crown of your head.
This is your center of divine remembrance.
Your connection to God has never been broken.
You have never left your Home.
Only your awareness needed restoring.
Remember now who you are — a Holy Child of God.
You are healed and whole, perfect and complete right now.
And as you hear these words, you rise into the Divine Light of Creator Source.
The mist of forgetfulness cannot stop the living memory of the Love of God.
The Love of God sustains you, heals you, and lifts you above every illusion of threat.
And in this quiet, you begin to recognize a truth that ends all forms of fear:
You are sustained by the Love of God.
Let these words sink deep into your mind now.
I am sustained by the Love of God.
Nothing else sustains you. Nothing else protects you. Nothing else is required.
Rest here for a few moments.
Return
And now, without losing any of the peace and happiness you are feeling right now, we will begin the reawakening process. You will clearly and vividly remember everything you experienced, heard or felt during your journey within.
You will awaken as I count up to five. When I reach the number five, you will become fully alert and wide-awake.
One… You are beginning to feel more awake. You feel the weight of your body, your feet, your legs, your arms, your torso and your head.
Two… Now you are becoming more aware of your surroundings… Feeling satisfied, safe and comfortable.
Three… You’re looking forward to the profound positive results from this deeply healing meditation.
Four… Feeling absolutely happy and wonderful and more and more awake
Five… Now you are wide-awake and fully alert. Open your eyes and be present.
Welcome back. You did beautifully. Thank yourself for this time spent with God, His Peace and His Light. It is a gift to your highest Self that knows no limits in Healing and Love.
