Meditation With God: Healing and the Circle of Atonement — A Guided Meditation Inspired by A Course in Miracles
Meditation Overview
In this guided meditation inspired by A Course in Miracles, you are invited into a sacred practice of forgiveness that restores awareness of shared Light and completes the Circle of Atonement. By gently releasing grievances and false perceptions of others, the meditation guides the mind beyond bodily identity into recognition of the Love and Light that unite all minds in God.
Through imagery, stillness, and conscious choice, this meditation supports total healing — not by changing others, but by correcting perception. As grievances dissolve, the mind remembers its power to heal, to forgive, and to rest within a vast circle of peace that includes all creation, leaving no one outside God’s Love.

MEDITATION WITH GOD: Healing and the Circle of Atonement
Sit in a quiet, comfortable upright position.
Resist the temptation to lie down, as this may cause you to fall asleep. Meditation is an active, gentle joining of your mind with God’s, and it is best received while you remain awake and aware.
Take several slow, deep breaths.
Notice how your chest loosens, your jaw softens, and your shoulders relax with each breath.
As the body relaxes, the mind becomes more willing to release what it has been holding. We set aside tension now, and with it, the thoughts that do not serve peace.
This meditation is a practice in true forgiveness. We are allowing the mind to be healed by seeing differently. We are entering what A Course in Miracles calls the Circle of Atonement — the circle of shared innocence and Light.
Seeing Differently
Bring to mind someone with whom you feel discomfort, irritation, or unresolved tension. This may be someone from the present or the past. Let just one person come gently into awareness.
Do not strain. Simply allow their image to arise.
Now consider this possibility:
What if, in truth, nothing real has ever stood between you?
What if beyond the surface story, only Love has always been present?
Notice any resistance. That resistance is not a problem. It simply shows where healing is invited.
Continue breathing slowly and evenly.
Picture this person standing before you.
Now imagine they say softly:
“Give me your blessing, holy Child of God.”
Let those words rest in your mind without forcing belief. We are not trying to convince the ego — we are allowing space for a deeper perception to emerge.
The Light Within
Now imagine a gentle light appearing above this person — not dramatic, just a quiet radiance.
As you look, their body becomes less solid, less central to your perception. What once seemed to define them begins to fade in importance.
Behind the personality, beyond the history, something changeless is present.
A quiet field of Light.
You may sense that this Light is familiar. It carries no blame, no defense, no past. It simply is.
This is not imagination in the ordinary sense — it is a willingness to let the mind be shown another way of seeing.
Now gently consider:
This same Light lives in you.
The differences you thought defined you both belong to the surface story, not to what you truly are.
Let all conclusions rest.
Let all judgments pause.
For this moment, allow yourself to see only Light meeting Light.
Entering the Circle of Atonement
When the mind chooses peace, something within begins to shine. This shining is not seen with the eyes, but it is known in quietness.
This is how healing extends.
Not by force.
Not by fixing another.
But by releasing the belief in separation.
Ask yourself gently:
Do I want to keep the grievance,
or do I want peace?
If peace is your desire, even a little, you are already entering the Circle of Atonement.
Forgiveness does not mean approving of past actions.
It means recognizing that what seemed to happen in separation has not changed the truth of what God created.
Say silently now:
I am willing to see us both as God created us.
Let the image of the other person grow lighter, less defined.
Let the same happen to your own self-image.
You are not erasing the world.
You are loosening your attachment to false definitions.
The body becomes less a symbol of division
and more a neutral presence in a shared dream of learning.
What is real in you cannot be harmed.
What is real in them cannot be lost.
Completing the Circle
Now see yourself and this person standing in a shared field of Light.
No edges.
No boundaries.
No past.
Only presence.
This Light expands, not as distance but as inclusion. It extends naturally to all beings, all life, all creation.
No one is outside it.
Nothing real is excluded.
This is the Circle of Atonement — the recognition that healing is shared because separation was never real.
Rest here a moment.
Let the mind be still.
Let the heart soften.
Let peace be received rather than achieved.
Returning With This Vision
As you move through your day, you may still see differences in form. That is part of the learning process. But now you carry a deeper knowing:
You do not truly know anyone by their history, their behavior, or their body.
When disturbance arises, remember:
There is more here than I am seeing.
Let me see the Light instead.
Each time you choose this, you step again into the Circle of Atonement. Each time you forgive, you accept healing for yourself and extend it to all.
Rest now in the quiet awareness of the Love that includes everyone.
In stillness, receive the peace of God.
Amen.
