Meditation Overview

In this guided meditation inspired by A Course in Miracles, you are gently led inward to your holy center — the quiet place in the mind where fear dissolves and union with God is remembered. Through breath, relaxation, symbolic imagery, and the release of deeply held fears, this meditation supports the undoing of ego-based perception and the restoration of inner peace.

As layers of anxiety, attachment, and self-protection are released, awareness naturally returns to the stillness within — a place of safety, light, and divine communion. This meditation can be revisited anytime you feel called to move beyond surface disturbances and rest again in the peace that has never left you.

INTRODUCTION

Before we begin this meditation, sit comfortably in an upright position.

Lying down may be tempting, but it can lead to sleep. Meditation is an active inner process of awareness, and remaining gently alert allows you to receive its full benefit.

Now let us begin to prepare your mind and body for going within.

 

THE MEDITATION

Close your eyes and take a long, slow breath inward…
Hold it gently…
Now exhale.

Again, a slow deep breath in…
Hold…
And release.

Feel your body beginning to relax. Let go of tension in your neck, shoulders, and arms. Allow your body to rest peacefully. A sense of privacy and comfort surrounds you now as your mind becomes calm and quiet.

Imagine you are seated at the base of a beautiful mountain. The sun is warm, a soft breeze moves through the air, and everything feels safe and serene. A gentle golden light from the sun begins to travel downward through your body — relaxing your face, neck, shoulders, chest, and stomach — bringing peace and tranquility.

The warmth continues down through your legs and into your feet. Your entire body is relaxed and held in a soft golden light.

You notice a safe grassy path winding up the mountainside. You begin walking calmly and confidently. Soon you reach a peaceful meadow, and at its edge stands a great ancient tree — a symbol of your inner life.

Beyond this tree, the path continues inward toward your true home in God. To reach it, you must pass through a cloud bank — the symbolic place where your fears and inner barriers reside.

You hesitate… and then feel the presence of a loving guide — the Christ presence — representing divine safety, strength, and guidance. You move forward, not alone, but supported.

As you walk deeper inward, you pass through layers of fear.

You encounter the fear of lack… and let it go.

You pass the fear of being alone… and remember you are eternally joined in Spirit.

You pass the fear of sickness and bodily harm… and remember your true Self is not limited to form.

You encounter addictive or obsessive thoughts — patterns that disturb your peace — and recognize them as distractions from truth. Simply seeing them clearly allows them to dissolve.

With each step, the clouds thin. You feel lighter, freer, more peaceful.

Finally, the mist clears.

You arrive at your holy center — a place of light, stillness, and union with God.

Rest here.

Be still an instant.
Let go of all past thoughts, all meanings you gave the world.
Allow every image of yourself and others to dissolve in the light of God.

You are healed and whole.
You are safe.
You are at home in God.

 

(Pause in silence)

 

When it is time to return, remember this simple truth:

Whenever your peace is disturbed, you can return here by becoming still and turning your attention inward.

A gentle breath…
Awareness returning to your body…
To the room…
To the present moment…

When you are ready, open your eyes.

Welcome back.

You can return to this holy center anytime you choose.
